FA1

Sometimes it is interesting to visualize your audio data. Though it will not replace the ability to evaluate the output of an instrument, a voice or a whole mix by ear and with the appropriate experience it gives you an analytical tool that can be helpful in the process of mixing and mastering. The FA 1 frequency analyzer converts the time based audio data to the frequency domain and shows the magnitude of equaly spaced frequency components as graph or bar graph.

With this tool it is also possible to display impulse responses of frequency dependent effects like filters (for instance). All you have to do is to create a wave file with the appropriate length containing a single impulse. You can see examples of the UKEQ and a 2nd order lowpass filter above. There is an offset due to the fact that amplitude and time resolution of the impulse are limited (approx. -66 dB in this case). This could be compensated easily if necessary.
